ROAD BIKES

Riding paved roads and paths has never been easier or more fun.

Sport/Performance Bikes

When most people think about road bikes, they're thinking about Sport/Performance Bikes. These bikes have an aggressive cycling position, race-driven geometry and are geared towards high performance. It's for these reasons that they're the bike of choice for professional riders in races such as the Tour de France. From daily training to your biggest races these bikes will let you attack the climb, accelerate fast and chase down the competition.

Endurance Road Bikes

The first endurance bike was the Specialized Roubaix released in 2004, since then endurance bikes have evolved to give more comfortable faster rides. These bikes feature a slightly more relaxed, upright riding position without sacrificing the performance of a sport bike. They're great for long club rides, rolling smoother and riding longer. Many models now featuring small shocks to keep you riding smooth on rough roads.

Cyclecross Bikes

This is a road bike made for the dirt. Cyclecross bikes have a slightly different frame geometry than traditional road bikes to allow dirt and mud to easily pass between the tires and frame. These bikes use wider tires for better traction and are excellent for winter cross training since you can take them out while the roads are still icy and wet. Cyclecross bikes make exploring dirt roads easy and are a great road-to-trail adventure bike.

Touring Road Bike Buyer Guide Specialized Giant

Touring Bikes

Touring bikes are the workhorse's of the road cycling family. Their robust, comfortable design make it easy to carry heavy loads with racks and panniers on the front or back. Today's touring bikes feature light frames and upright seating position that will effortlessly carry you across town or across the country. With a touring bike you'll be ready for anything the road throws at you on your epic adventure weather it lasts for a day or a month.

Triathlon/Time Trial

When you need to beat the clock and be the fastest thing on two wheels nothing works better than a triathlon or time trial bike. Triathlon bikes are engineered for maximum aerodynamic performance by putting the rider in an aggressive streamline position with the sole intent of making you go faster. Triathlon specific bikes provide the competitive edge that you need to get across the line faster and beat your best time.

Road Inspired Hybrids

Speed meets stability in road inspired hybrid bikes. These hybrids start with a road bike frame and add flat handlebars for a more comfortable riding experience. Some of these hybrids are so similar to road bikes that the only major difference is the flat handlebars. These bikes make great fitness or transportation bikes and are best suited for an urban city environment where their thin wheels, quick speed and easy handling make riding a breeze.

Fixed Gear Bikes

Fixies are as simple as bikes get! Fixed gear bikes use a drivetrain with no freewheel mechanism allowing for only one gear. This means that the rider is unable to pedal backward or stop pedaling while in motion. These bikes are a blast to ride once you get used to the ride and are elegant in their simplicity requiring no derailleurs, shifters, chainrings or even breaks!

Specialized Giant Road Bike Track Buyers Guide

Track Bikes

If you only care about going fast this bike is for you. Track bikes are built to fly around a circular cycling velodrome where riders reach speeds of up to 50 mph (80kmph). Track bikes can be thought of as bicycles in their purest form after you have stripped away and are built to produce as much speed as possible in the velodrome.
